I. Introduction
Welcome to the MSL Collegiate Cup Season 2! This rulebook outlines the guidelines, rules, and procedures for the tournament, ensuring fair play and a smooth experience for all participants. Please read and understand this document fully and carefully. Ignorantia juris non excusat - Ignorance of the law is not an excuse.
This tournament was developed and is being handled by Moonton Student Leaders Philippines, an organization of student-gamers dedicated to the promotion of the coexistence esports, the academe, and stewardship. Under the supervision of Moonton Philippines Technology, Inc., MSL Philippines is the premier student-led tournament and event organizer for the game Mobile Legends: Bang Bang.
Definition of Terms
- Game - A specific instance or round of competition within the tournament that is played until a winner is determined either via (a) destroying the enemy base, or (b) a team forfeiting the game, or (c) a team losing by default or disqualification.
- Match - A series of games played between two teams according to a specific format and set of rules. A match may consist of one or multiple games, with each game contributing to the overall outcome of the match. The winner of the match is determined based on the criteria set in Section III. Tournament Format. In a “best-of-one (BO1)” format, the terms ‘game’ and ‘match’ may be used interchangeably.
- Roster - The list of players who are officially registered to represent a team in the tournament.
- Default - A situation where a team fails to appear, is not ready to play at the scheduled time, or does not have the required number of players to start a game. A default results in an automatic game loss for the defaulting team.
- Disqualification - The removal of a team or player from the tournament due to severe rule violations, repeated offenses, or misconduct. Disqualification results in the forfeiture of any remaining matches, loss of eligibility for any prizes, and possible further penalties as stated in Section VIII. Penalties and Sanctions and as determined by the tournament officials.
- Stage - A stage refers to a distinct phase of the competition that progresses participants through the overall structure of the event. Each stage is characterized by its format, rules, and objectives, designed to narrow down the number of participants or teams to determine those advancing to the subsequent phase.
Grant of Rights
Participants grant the tournament organizers the right to use their submitted team names, logos, player assets, and other branding materials solely for tournament-related purposes, including but not limited to:
- Official broadcast and streaming of tournament matches
- Promotion of the tournament across social media, websites, and other media platforms
- Display on tournament-branded merchandise or materials, with appropriate credit and permission to the team and players
Tournament organizers may allow authorized third-party partners, such as sponsors or broadcasters, to use team names, logos, or other branding strictly for promotional purposes related to the tournament. No additional usage rights are granted beyond this scope without written consent from the intellectual property owners.
Participation Agreement
All participants, including but not limited to players, coaches, and team staff, are required to fully comply with the rules and regulations outlined by the tournament organizers. By registering for the tournament, participants agree to uphold the integrity of the competition, adhere to fair play, and follow all instructions and decisions issued by the organizers, referees, or officials. Any violation of these rules, whether intentional or unintentional, may result in penalties, including warnings, forfeitures, suspensions, or disqualification, as deemed appropriate by the organizers. The organizers’ decisions on rule enforcement and interpretation are final and binding.
